A Number of Injured as Rough Air Hits Delta Aircraft Arriving in Sydney
Multiple passengers and crew have been injured following a Delta flight originating in LA to Sydney, Australia experienced turbulence Friday morning.
Flight DL41 "experienced a brief period of turbulence" as it touched down at the Sydney airport, a representative for the carrier told. Four flight attendants required medical attention.
Emergency medical services stated they treated five patients, and transferred a trio to a medical facility with minor injuries that such as pain in the back and head pain. The injured ranged from their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the latest incident of aircraft encountering turbulence, with experts saying that shifting climate patterns is a major factor.
The aircraft was carrying 245 people and fifteen staff members on the aircraft, the official noted, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at Sydney Airport at 06:48 local time on Friday.
Emergency responders reported they were alerted just a mere three minutes before the plane landed, and emergency vehicles were ready and waiting at the airport.
