Assassin's Creed Unveils Unexpected AoT Crossover for Thanksgiving
In a unexpected crossover event that defies usual expectations, Ubisoft has announced an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the renowned anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary additional story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Uncovered
According to the authorized announcement, "A mysterious meeting draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of banned ceremonies and monstrous transformations resonate through the darkness." The narrative features a "unusually attired woman named Ada" who charges the duo with journeying into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a secret sect.
The mission focuses on "strange tests and a terrifying foe" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Iconic Places and Transformations
The preview highlights the Underground Chapel from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through eras. The teaser finishes with a dramatic sequence showing a character, presumably the hostage, transforming into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Items and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will obtain an unique katana in addition to several objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special arms
- Survey Corps steed
Newest Free Story Addition
This patch also introduces the game's newest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This humorous adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive abilities: Naoe introduces a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke acquires subduing stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also features a original environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Partnerships
This marks not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with popular anime series. The series previously featured a 2020 crossover story linking Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla informally contained a quest that unmistakably echoed the well-known series One-Punch Man.
