19 of the Russian's twenty-one victories have been won on hard surfaces

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

The athlete, a ex- number one, has endured a challenging season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-term mentor Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This marks his maiden title since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after that period of the previous year.

Success also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one titles at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent emotional displays on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his ability to compete at the top level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete aggressively, reinforced by an improved service.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the last five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the middle set before Moutet, bidding for his initial professional championship, took control to create a third set.

He saved 4 initial opportunities in a close final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
