Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the urban setting.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are best suited for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to head next after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Moreover, each character has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a hostile place.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their status as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
- The strong figure and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to head to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.
